Over the last two weeks Clint Dempsey has carried the Sounders on his back. Five goals in two matches ain’t bad. The majority of these goals came after the Sounders returned to a 4-4-2, with Dempsey playing underneath the more advanced Obafemi Martins. Sigi is smart, he’s going to build on the goalscoring joy that Dempsey has found, maintaining the same formation.
We believe that Brad Evans will return to the starting lineup after having participated in training this week. He plays an inverted role when lining up in right midfield. This should allow Seattle to avoid being overrun in midfield this week and assist Pineda in controlling the ball going forward.
The addition of Evans to the starting lineup leaves only one position for Lamar Neagle and Kenny Cooper. We predict Cooper gets the nod due to his more consistent performances so far this year. Neagle will act as a lethal late match sub.
We’ve seen a lot of Dempsey goals so far this year. Seems like tomorrow’s match is the perfect opportunity for two or three back flips.
